April is Child Abuse Prevention Month!

Posted on April 1, 2024

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month.

The Georgia Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) recently posted information about the staggering number of children that continue to enter the foster care system. To be a part of preventing child abuse, it is important to become aware of what is happening all around us.

The 2023/2024 Prevention Resource Guide recognizes that there are actions we can take as a society and within communities, organizations, and families to address the root causes of child abuse and neglect. The prevention resource guide seeks to highlight the innovative ways that communities around the country are doing purposeful prevention work to help children and families thrive. The protective factors have always been central to the Resource Guide. A protective factors approach focuses on positive ways to engage families by emphasizing their strengths, in addition to identifying areas where they have room to grow with support. Focusing on protective factors helps children, youth, and families build resilience and contributes to positive outcomes.

Posted on June 11, 2023

In the summer of 2023, Impact 100 Fannin awarded The Open Arms Home for Children a $100,000 grant award to purchase a large passenger van and funds to renovate aspects of the home.  The new van will accommodate group resident transport to appointments and activities and the remodeling will include adding bathrooms and refurbishment and stocking an existing storage area with hygiene items for new residents.  The generosity shown by Impact 100 Fannin is nothing short of amazing and we will take this gift and use it to nurture the lives that we serve.
